The 16th PEDIATRIC BASIC BOBATH COURSE will take place in Ankara in 2024. Professional development course for post-graduate neurophysiological and neurodevelopmental based treatment for infants at risk of cerebral palsy, children and young people with cerebral palsy and similar neurodevelopmental childhood problems- Basic Bobath Course

The details of the 8-week PEDIATRIC BASIC BOBATH COURSE, which will be organized for the 16th time in our country, are as follows;

 

Course Name: 16th Pediatric Basic BOBATH Course

 

Course Location: Ankara (Course location will be announced later)

 

Participants: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists (Diploma is required for registration)


Course Quota:26 Person

 

Course Language: Turkish - English- (English-Turkish consecutive translation will be provided during the course)

 

After this course; the principles of BOBATH for infants at high risk of cerebral palsy, children and individuals with cerebral palsy and children with similar neurodevelopmental childhood problems are learned and certified Bobath Therapist title is obtained. It is a course in accordance with the maximum criteria accepted and published by EBTA in 2022.

COURSE INSTRUCTORS

 

Josse de Cat, Physiotherapist, Senior Bobath Instructor, BBTA, Belgium
He works at the University of Leuven, Belgium. He has served as the president of EBTA. For many years, she has been continuing her clinical and academic studies on Bobath applications in children with cerebral palsy as well as movement analysis, Botuluinum toxin applications, Selective dorsal rhizotomy, soft tissue and bone surgeries and Baclofen pump applications, pre and post physiotherapy programs and gait analysis.

 

Marleen D'hondt, Speech and Language Therapist, Senior Bobath Instructor, BBTA, Belgium
She is an associate professor at Gent University. She carries out her academic and clinical work in the department of speech and language therapy. She is interested in swallowing and eating problems in children with cerebral palsy. She is interested in oral motor problems in the neonatal period. She is also involved in Bobath courses as a speech and language therapist instructor.

 

Stefanie Pesant, Occupational Therapist, Bobath Instructor, BBTA, Belgium
She works in a center for children with Cerebral Palsy and many other disabilities. As an occupational therapist, she takes a holistic view to improve a person's ability to fulfill their daily routines. In the institution where she works and in her Bobath courses, she primarily works on the far-reaching function of the upper limbs.

 

Mintaze Kerem Günel, Physiotherapist, Senior Bobath Instructor, BTD, Turkey
She is a Professor at Hacettepe University Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. Her research interests include cerebral palsy high-risk infants, early childhood neurodevelopmental and especially children with motor function deficits, physiotherapy and rehabilitation applications in children with cerebral palsy and neuromotor childhood problems, ICF, postural control, motor learning. She continues her clinical practice and academic research on Bobath applications in cerebral palsy. She is EBTA second president, BTD board chair and EBTA Bobath senior instructor.

 

Feride Bilir, Physiotherapist, Senior Bobath Instructor, BTD, Turkey
She conducted clinical and academic studies in the field of risky babies, cerebral palsy and all developmental disorders in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Neurology Physiotherapy Units at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of PTR and Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. After retiring from Istanbul University in 2012, she continues her practice and studies privately at the Early Intervention Center she founded in her own clinical center on Early Physiotherapy and Bobath applications in Risky Babies, Cerebral Palsy and developmental disorders seen in childhood. She is the vice president of BTD board of directors and EBTA Bobath senior instructor.

 

Cemil Özal, Physiotherapist, Senior Bobath Instructor, BTD, Turkey
He graduated from Başkent University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in 2009. He received his science specialization degree in 2012 and his doctorate degree in 2018. Since 2019, he started to work as a lecturer at Hacettepe University Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and continues his academic and clinical studies in the Cerebral Palsy and Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit. He has completed many certified trainings on childhood problems and assessment methods, especially Bobath Therapy Courses for Cerebral Palsy and similar neurodevelopmental conditions. He is a European Bobath Trainers Association - EBTA Bobath trainer and the national coordinator of the European Academy of Childhood Disability - EACD Turkey. His main fields of study are Bobath Therapy applications and training Cerebral palsy, neurodevelopmental problems, childhood neurological diseases physiotherapy and rehabilitation applications and Cerebral Palsy registry systems. He is a board member of Bobath Therapists Association and Pediatric Physiotherapists Association.

 

Arzu Yılmaz, Physiotherapist, Senior Bobath Instructor, BTD, Turkey
After graduating from Istanbul University, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, she conducted clinical and academic studies in the field of risky babies, cerebral palsy and all developmental disorders in the Family Counseling Center of Spastic Children Foundation of Turkey and in the intensive care units of some hospitals. She continues her clinical practice and studies on Early Physiotherapy and Bobath applications in risky infants, cerebral palsy and developmental disorders seen in childhood. She is a board member of BTD and EBTA Bobath instructor.

 

 

COURSE HOURS


Training hours are between 09.00-12.00 and 13.00-17.00. Lunch break is 1 hour. The Bobath Course includes 320 hours. The lessons will take place according to a syllabus that will be delivered to the participants on time. Participants have to prepare written and video assignments. The total time of the course is 320 hours including preparations. The course instructors will ask for written assignments, case preparation and presentations. The participant prepares and presents the assignments. Case presentations take place in small groups.

The Basic Bobath Course (post-graduate professional development course for treatment based on the scientific foundations of neurophysiology and developmental neurology - Bobath / for the treatment of children, adolescents and adults) complies with the general requirements of the "European Bobath Tutors Association (EBTA)" 2022.
